Our 2019 Charitable Causes
We recently announced that our mortgage team will be supporting four charitable causes this year!
The decision to take a portion of the commission earned from each closed mortgage in 2019 was an easy one. We all feel very fortunate to enjoy our work and we want to give back in any way we can.
Our first two charitable causes have already been announced with two more to follow.
In the spring we made a $2,000 donation to an incredible Alberta organization, STARS Air Ambulance, supporting their Rescue in the Rockies fundraiser. Our family is deeply grateful to the dedicated staff, including pilots and critical care physicians and nurses working with Stars. These medical professionals spend their days caring for the most critical patients in the most stressful situations all while flying through the air. We had a personal experience with a family member on a STARS flight ten years ago. When you watch the helicopter land at a trauma hospital you know that you have been given that one last chance at at the possibility of a good income in a very bad situation. Minutes literally save lives!
STARS Air Ambulance serves Western Canada including those living in rural communities, working in remote areas, travelling on highways or being transported from community hospitals to major medical centres, receive the very best in critical care via helicopters staffed and outfitted as mobile ICUs. Our friend, Jina, volunteered for the Rescue in the Rockies fundraising event. On June 7, 2019, a group of brave community leaders traded in their business attire for flight suits, and climb onboard the STARS air ambulance helicopter for a unique mission. Each participant competed to raise as much money as possible to earn a flight back to civilization, using the only tool they had – their cell phones. The intrepid participants undertook a variety of challenges in the rockies to help secure their escape. More than $5.5 million dollars have been raised from past Rescue in the Rockies events in support of STARS air ambulance.
Our second charity of choice, is the Farmers & Makers Market music stage. The market is run by a non-profit organization that is truly local. Our donation supports local musicians in performing live music throughout the summer and fall outdoor season.
Owning a small business and growing up on a Manitoba farm I know how much supporting local producers and all the local makers, crafters and artists is. And we love music! 🎶 Our team is grateful to be able to support our neighbourhood. Music adds so much to life, family, and fun. Check out the market every Saturday from 10 am to 3pm. Enjoy the music and support the 60+ incredible vendors who put their hearts and souls into our economy and this lovely market! We will see you there.
Alberta has experienced a devastating economic downturn in the past few years. By contributing a portion of our profits to incredible charitable causes we are doing our small part to give back and show how grateful we are for our continued success.
